Queer Tantra & Sacred Sexuality Festival

Edit: I made a facebook group for people who might be interested in this, check it out and join here

Hello lovely people! First of all I guess I should apologise for the recent inaction, life gets in the way and all that.

Last summer I went to the tantra festival at Osho Leela in Dorset, UK. I had a good time there, but I found myself constantly reminded of the fact that I was different from everyone there, and that I didn’t fit into the overriding model of the world. I was constantly pushing buttons and challenging people simply by being in the space and being myself, which, while ok once in a while, gets bloody exhausting after a while. Thankfully I had come with a queer gang, which made it possible for me to enjoy what I could and retreat when I needed to. I have been interested in working with sacred sexuality for a long time, but I have been put off trainings and workshops because of the heterocentricism and binary nature of the majority of tantra. In the last couple of years I have found a way in, primarily through ecstatic BDSM at Sacred Pleasures and the Queer Rites events. I have met many wonderful people who feel the same way as I do and are creating communities and events where people can explore the potential of sexuality and connection without assumptions of heterosexuality and binary gender identities.

This has got me thinking about how awesome it would be to create a queer tantra and sacred sexuality festival, two or three days long with workshops and rituals created by  established teachers and workshop leaders working with queer folk, and also with space for people to bring their own magic. I would like this to be an initial call out to see if people would be interested in such a thing, and more importantly if there are other people who would like to help make it happen! (I have some experience of organising events but not anything on this scale and definitely not on my own). As far as I know nothing like this has ever happened before, and I feel sure that there would be a lot of people who would be very excited about an event like this. Realistically I think it would happen in 2014, and I think that gives enough time for it to percolate and come together.

Edited to add: I would like this to be an inclusive rather than exclusive space, and heterosexual, binary identified people would indeed be welcome, these things just wouldn’t be assumed.

If you would be interested in this, either organising or attending, please comment below!

(I have it set so I need to approve any comments posted, so if you don’t want your comment to be public you can say so, and include your email address if you want me to get back to you)

Much love to you all, and happy equinox!

Resurfacing

Hello everyone, sorry this blog has been so quiet over the last few months. This has been because of me being super busy, but also because many of the things I’ve been thinking about writing have been quite personal in nature and I’ve been unsure about how much I really want to open myself up on here, especially because this isn’t supposed to be a personal blog! I’m in the process of writing something that will hopefully make it on here, so I’ll see you all soon 🙂

Write for the Bent Pentacle!

Hello lovely folks, I hope you’ve been enjoying the writings and ramblings that have appeared on here over the last few days. Thank you all for reading and being generally fabulous (which I’m sure you are).

However, this blog is missing something – your voice. Right from the beggining when I was being all old fashioned and making printed zines, I was always intending the Bent Pentacle to be a colaborative effort, an open forum for discussion and idea swapping between many people, with myself mostly acting as a sort of facilitator, or maybe a ring master (I like that, they usually have better clothes don’t they?). I have a few more of my own writings in the pipeline, but I’m not really a writer and I’m sure there are many folk out there who can express themselves far more eloquently than my own wild ramblings, and who have many interesting thoughts and wisdoms to share with the world. Any pictures you may have made would be wonderful also. Anything that comes under the queer pagan umbrella (or comes just next to it), or which may be of interest to queer pagans, would be great.

So, please do send me things! Or send me links to interesting things! You can email anything you feel I should see to gokristofski at hotmail dot co dot uk   New email address! chris j hubley at gmail dot com

Lots of queer pagan hugs and kisses to you all, and I look forward to all the wonderous things you’ll be coming up with!

Tentacle joy

By Kris Littlesun

While I was at QPC this year I had a particularly enjoyable experiance where I spent a rather long time considering the various possibilities of tentacle genitals – which would have been good enough by itself, but when I came home and saw my friends who had been holidaying in Italy, they showed me this picture they had taken outside a monastery in Santuario Basilica, Rappallo:

I’ve been thinking how strange it is that so many people seem to think it’s a good idea to base their spiritual lives around genitals.

Welcome to the Bent Pentacle!

The Bent Pentacle started life as a couple of zines by and for queer pagans of all genders, sexualities and paths and was intended to be a space for us to share stories and explore the intersections of gender and spirituality and life between the boundaries. I have made two issues of it over about 3 years, and I have since decided to venture into the world of blogging instead. To start with I am going to put up articles from the first 2 printed issues, and hopefully it will grow from there. I intend to put up writings by whoever so wishes to contribute, as well as linking to various other things I feel are of interest. Enjoy!

Lots of love to you all,

Littlesun xx
